Work and Learn Center

ImageThe Houston area is home to around 110,000 opportunity youth and young adults – defined by the Kinder Institute as young people ages 16 to 24 who neither work nor attend school. Institutional obstacles, limited access to guidance, and feelings of disconnection may challenge these young people's ability to thrive in their environment.

The AAMA Work and Learn Center offers support for opportunity youth ages 16-24 and Sanchez Charter School high school students who may struggle with employment and educational pathways. The Work and Learn Center helps students define and pursue their personal, professional, academic, and financial goals. Our semester-long program is offered in the fall and spring, and our summer boot camp gives young people opportunities to grow in career readiness, graphic arts, printing, production, and digital literacy skills. Upon completing the program, students receive ongoing case management and support in obtaining their Adobe Software Certification paid for by the program.
