Adult Education

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Friends and Familia, just a few days ago, we reported that our successful and longstanding adult literacy program had been suspended. Thank you for your patience and support during this time. It is with gratitude and excitement that we are able to share that AAMA's adult education program is reopening in the East End area! Thanks to a new collaboration with the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) we are happy to share that the program will again be serving adult learners in our local community. At this moment, we are busy planning and coordinating efforts for our first student cohort under this new collaboration. We will be sharing more details on our website and social media accounts very soon.

Through AAMA’s adult literacy program, Adelante, adult learners overcome language and other barriers to success. Adelante means “to move forward” and that’s what these courses help students to – move forward to higher education, certificate training programs and better job opportunities.

Comprehensive courses and flexible schedules meet the needs of working adults. Morning classes are from 9:00 a.m.-1:15p.m. and evenings from 5:30 p.m. -9:00 p.m. depending on class type, level, and demand.

Due to COVID-19 all classes will be held virtually online through Zoom, with class times to meet varying schedules.

Courses are free and are open to adults 18 years of age and older who are currently NOT enrolled or attending a regular School system such as High School.
